This is my final PE blog for this semester. There are four pillars you have noted and I will answer each one to the best of my ability.
1) My participation: I have attend almost every 5th block class. On those days that I have not been at PE they have been excused misses as I have had appointments during 5th block or have been sick. I have arrived on time for every class and have always had my PE strip on and ready to go at start of class. I feel I participate in every activity we do even if I am not great at the sport I have always tried my hardest. I try to encourage others to participate. On choice days I try to chose something I am good at and that I enjoy as this will make me work harder. I have always enjoyed badminton and will play that at every time it is available. I am not as good at volleyball but have played and tried to contribute when that is an option. On fitness days I have tried to work as hard as I can to improve my previous results and to be my times. I have not always been successful but I feel that I have always tried by best on that day.
2) Social Responsibility/Contributing to the Class: I always try to help with set up equipment and putting things away after PE without ever being asked. I feel that I chose to take PE so I always come with a good attitude. I am not one to stand around not participating. I try to encourage others to participate to make it fun as well to help organize teams for different games. I always play fair and would never cheat in a game. With badminton I will play with anyone no matter their skill level and will try to help them to get better. I have always been honest with my fitness scores even if I have not done as well as the time before. I believe my attitude towards PE and fitness as always been positive.
3) Healthy Living: I have been trying to incorporate a healthier lifestyle into my day to day living. Aside from PE I have an app on my phone which assists me using my weight and fitness goals that I can keep track of how many calories I am intaking and what foods I am eating so I can make better choices. I understand that making the right choices is a life long journey and that I will not always be successful but that I don't get to down on myself and continue to try harder the next day. I believe that eating healthier will make my exercise easier. My last fitness day I had a better time on the T test and was working hard on all other categories. All other categories were very similar to the time before. I know that I need to continue working at home on my own health and well being and making sure that i find time for activities. I know that I feel better and have more energy to do other things on the days when I have eaten better and have gotten exercise. I realize that this is not always easy and I do not always have the results I want but I am determined to keep trying each and every day.
4) Digital Portfolio and Reflective Skills: In my previous blogs I have shown photos of my times etc. I have not posted any videos or photos of myself as I have explained this in previous blogs. I understand that feedback from peers or teachers could be helpful however social media is not what I am comfortable with. I have a wonderful support group at home, people who go for walks with me or bike rides. I have family to go swimming with and all of us working toward a healthier lifestyle. This are just things that I am not comfortable posting on line for all to see. So my digital portfolio is probably not as good as some but I had to make that choice as I am not comfortable having those imagines on line. I have tried very hard to do my blogging as I have previously said it is way out of my comfort zone. I feel I have expressed myself in writing and that is the best that I could do.
I have hopefully given you enough information again I am short on the digital part of the assessment although on previous blogs I have explained why. I hope that my resistance to blogging would not affect my final mark as I feel I have tried hard in class and have always come with a positive attitude towards PE. I have tried to participate to the best of my ability and I have never just skipped a class or have come unprepared for class. I believe my final grade could be around 75% which I feel would be fair.
This is a wonderful final. I think you are aware of your strengths and where you want to improve. As I have mentioned to (and you touched on in the post) your life changes for eating and exercising will be far more critical than PE class to lasting health. So make small changes you enjoy so that you have a better chance of sustaining them. Keep others involved to hold you accountable and for you to support as well. Communal health is way easier to keep up. Lastly. keep the "ugly face" idea in the back of your head. If you raise your intensity so that you get uncomfortable, sweat, turn red and make ugly faces, you are pushing your body so that it will grow and improve. When you workout in a way that is "pretty easy" or comfortable it is still good for you but as you wrote about above, you won't see dramatic changes. The combination of all of the above is how you will reach your personal goals for your health. I enjoy having you in class. Keep after it. :)
